ARPLANK SPECIALTY
FOAM PLANKS

Fire Retardant, Anti-Static, & Other Foam Options

ARPLANK Direct’s specialty foam options include several Anti-Static (AS) and Fire Retardant (FR) grades. Ideal for multiple industries and applications, these foam planks are lightweight, durable, and can be made to provide ample protection against fire, high temperatures, and electrostatic discharges.

ARPLANK foams come in a wide variety of grades, including Grade B Anti-Stat and Grade C Fire Retardant, and meet stringent military requirements as well as other industry test standards. With varying densities, and longer shelf life than extruded PE foams, and many customizable features, ARPLANK specialty foams are an ideal choice for many industry applications.

High Strength & Impact Protection

ARPRO foam planks are strain-rate sensitive and provide unparalleled repetitive dynamic cushioning, taking hit after hit and returning to the cut part’s original shape repeatedly. EPP is perfect for heavy crating, insulated thermal bulkheads, automotive components, light-weighting, EV battery liners, and 3D compression molded parts. EPP foam is isotropic in nature, has been stringently tested, and can manage impacts from 25MPH to 10 G’s. EPP foam parts can hold tight dimensional tolerances with less compression set and creep than extruded PE or chemical crosslink XLPE.

Lightweight and Cost-Efficient

EPP is unique because it can withstand repeated blows and return to its original shape after absorbing impact energy. The multi-directional nature and compressive strength of EPP is consistent across the X, Y, and Z-axis, enabling it to manage shock from any impact angle or direction. ARPRO EPP plank products are stiffer and have wider static loading ranges that provide more protection than traditional closed-cell packaging foams. New EPP formulations offer greater flexibility and much easier fabrication with traditional foam cutting equipment.

thermal-insulation

Thermal Insulation

ARPRO EPP foams maintain their thermal properties over a wide range of temperatures from 20F to 212F. They provide excellent thermal insulation and can be used to ship temperature-sensitive products used to prevent heat transfer from occurring such as returnable cold-chain containers for medical, food, and temperature-sensitive products. EPP-based products also offer excellent high-temperature cushioning performance.

chemical-resistance

Chemical Resistance

As a chemically inert substance, ARPRO EPP foam planks are virtually unaffected when exposed to most chemicals, oil and grease, petroleum, and moisture.

environmentally-friendly

Environmentally Friendly

ARPAK EPE foam planks are 100% recyclable and environmentally sound. They are classified as “Ozone Safe”, meet the RoHS requirements, and are NAFTA compliant. They are made with CO2 and will not emit any harmful CFC or HCFC gasses back into the environment.

Fire Retardant (FR) Foam Options

ARPLANK fire retardant foams are used for protective packaging applications and as product components across a variety of industries. They meet extensive and stringent testing standards and requirements and are available in low, medium, and high densities.

  • EPP UL-94, V0 and HF1 recognized materials in densities from #1.9 – #5.0
  • Produced with inert gas blowing agents, do not contain VOCs, and are free of CFCs & HCFCs
  • Low, medium, and high density for Type I, III, IV, and V in both Class 1 and Class 2
  • Meets UL94, ASTM E162, and ASTM 5132
  • All densities and grades pass FMVSS-302
  • Meet Mil-spec CID-A-A-59136, CID-A-A-59135, and PPP-1752-D requirements
  • Uniform cell size, wall thickness, and density make for easier fabrication
  • No off gassing
  • PEPP foam comes in 1” and 2” thick 24″ x 48″ panels that meet the Class A fire rating (non-architectural applications only)

Anti-Static Foam Options

ARPLANK permanent ESD and Black Anti-Static EPE materials are non-corrosive, moisture resistance, and durable materials that help manage electrostatic events in products such as electronic assemblies and industrial electronics packaging that require ESD protection.

Our EPP permanent Dissipative (DI) grades offer a much slower transfer of electronic charges in the range of 10-5th to 10-9th ohms range. EPP (DI) products are available from #1.9 – #3.7 densities. ARPLANK Anti-Static materials have a longer shelf life than extruded PE pink foams and in the 10-10th to 10-12th ohms range and are ideal for package protection for sensitive electronics, military ordonnance, and other applications.
